“THE LIVING TRUTH”

FIRST LESSON: ST. MATTHEW 23: 11

“But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant”.

SECOND LESSON: ST. MATTEW 20: 28
“Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto but to minister, and give his life as a ransom for many”.

GOLDEN TEXT: ST. JOHN 14: 12
“Verily, verily I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father”.

All the gospels preached to you are references and reminders about the words spoken by our Lord Jesus Christ. None can add nor subtract anything to help in the fulfillment of these gospels. Any person therefore, who would not put the gospel into practice stands to lose his chance in this Kingdom. Everyone is hereby advised to be careful of his or her activities and manners.
Many people today claim that if they were Adam and Eve; they would not have succumbed to the tempter’s ploy. Others also claim that if they were Lot or the rest of the fallen patriarchs, they would not have fallen into the temptation they experienced. The general belief amongst many Christians now is that, their faith in Christ is so strong that if they had existed during the era of our Lord Jesus Christ, they would not have persecuted Him nor denied Him. This testimony reveals the downfall of the inhabitants of the church denominations and the various religious bodies. Furthermore, the testimony proves the fact that:
“…Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one title shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. (St. Matthew 5: 18).
The first lesson has made it clear that:
“…The greatest among you shall be your servant”.

That is a statement or injunction which nothing can prevent its fulfillment, not even prayer and fasting. Our Lord Jesus Christ made this statement and not Me. Christ Himself practiced the injunction before He gave the charge. Therefore, calling on the name of the Lord alone will not save you except you comply with His injunctions. The reason why the entire world has failed is because; no one has endeavored to put into practice the injunctions of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Visions and dreams would not help you, neither would anyone obtain salvation by mere distributing his money to people. Also, preaching, reciting the passages of the Holy Bible from Genesis to Revelation and shouting the name of Jesus at the top of your voice cannot help at all.
The question now is if the greatest has to be a servant, what then will people of low status be? Can you now realize why the Lord said that:

“…Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist; notwithstanding, he that is the least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he”? (St. Matthew 11:11)

The only way to greatness is to submit yourself to the service of others. In other words, you must be a servant to all. Whether you are a lawyer, an engineer, a banker or a manager of chains of firms, you cannot benefit anything nor get a solution to your quest for salvation. Individual status or stature does not count in practicing the gospel. Neither your race nor colour of the skin can help you to practice the gospel except you abide in the Lord.
No person is capable of preaching the gospel or indeed doing anything except the Lord abides in him. Christ is the only one who practices the gospel and whom we have to hear from. He is the only Leader and Savior. Therefore, whoever fails to practice His injunctions does not believe in Him and cannot accomplish the signs spoken of by our Lord Jesus Christ. Can you now realize why the governments, churches, individuals have failed? The entire world has flouted the Lord’s injunction that the greatest should be the servant. God has not provided any special seat to anybody who claims to be the greatest except he who is a servant to others. If for example you visit a certain city and find their king sweeping but you go straight to his reception room and occupy his chair, have you not made a fool of yourself? If you say you want to please God and do the right, you have to humble yourself by serving others. That was what is pleasing to the Father. God abhors pomposity. For instance, it is very distasteful in the sight of God for a person to sit down at one corner and others standing by him to fan him as a mark of glory. He does not also like situation in which a person positions himself only to issue out orders to others to carry out.
Many people complain that power no longer exists and that, there is no Holy Spirit in existence. They go to make various complains and erroneous claims that God does not exist. They are in this pitiable position because; they have all flouted God’s injunctions. The only right path to life is to practice the gospel. It is the manifestation of Christ’s statement that:

“…. No man cometh unto the Father, but by me (St. John 14: 6).

It is also true that, to gain an entrance into this Kingdom is not through one’s wealth, academic achievement or power.
The term faith is clearly demonstrated by practicing the gospel. Can you now realize why our Lord Jesus Christ is the greatest both in heaven and here on earth? In the entire world, who else has the Almighty God accorded recognition as the only King and Lord? He is the only recognized person before God and He is well pleased. It is against this background that the four- (4) wise men went to worship Him with gifts. In heaven, the Lord is the King of the angels. Here on earth, He is the Lord and Savior. You could recall when the wise men arrived at His birthplace they inquired:

“…Where is he that is born King of the Jews? For we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him. (St. Matthew 2: 2)
Our Lord Jesus Christ despite His status was not arrogant but He is the life and only model for all to follow. He preached from one part of the world to the other. He preached to the rulers of the earth both in their palaces and in the synagogues. He preached to all and sundry so that mankind would learn of Him and endeavor to resemble Him. We all are living witnesses that, of all born of a woman there have risen none as humble as Christ. Amongst all created by God, including man and the angels, none has ever been declared God’s beloved other than Christ. He is the only one upon whom God declared as recorded hereunder:
“And lo a voice from heaven, saying, this is my beloved son, in whom I am well pleased. (St. Matthew 3: 17)
He is the only person who has the right of son-ship. This further explains why He alone prayed the Father saying:

“…. O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was”. (St. John 17: 5)

In another instance, He told the Jews:
“Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day, and he saw it, and was glad. Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham? Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am. (St. John 8: 56-58).
For those who continued to doubt Him, He asked them why even David himself called Him Lord and King. He is the greatest amongst God’s creation and none can be compared to Him. As the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, He served mankind and humbled Himself even to the point of death. In spite of His good works, His humility and love, the world saw nothing good in Him. In spite of the various persecutions He went through, He continued to serve all and to pray for His Father to forgive them for they knew not what they did. He said:

“Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart; and ye shall find rest unto your souls. (St. Matthew 11: 29)
Take particular note of the above passage because that is what He wants us all to do. This is why He warned us not to call anyone teacher for there is only one that is teacher who is the Father and that we all are brethren. He alone is the teacher of this new age and the New Kingdom. Therefore, whatever position you may occupy, whatever name you may answer and whatever profession you may engage in, you should regard this gospel as your guide. Whether you are a president, a traditional ruler, a technocrat, a scientist or whatever, that cannot provide you automatic entry into the Kingdom of God. There were prominent men in the world before and during the advent of our Lord Jesus Christ but God did not consider any of them worthy to be called ‘a beloved son’.
If any person tells you that God is relaxed in His big chair in His throne while His servants or angels continue to fan Him, ask such a person to pray fervently for Himself. God works round the clock for the good of man. Put in a different way, that which God created, has now become a problem to his creator. A local adage has it that, an antelope gave birth to its young one in order to avoid morning dew, but alas, the irony of it is that another antelope desperately runs through the wet leaves every morning in search of food for its young one. The lesson to learn here is that most of the requests you make are invitations of problems to yourself. For example, a man who prays God to give him a wife is asking for extended problems. Extended in the sense that apart from his problems, he would become the sole bearer of problems for his wife, children and the wife’s immediate relations. The problems that we have are brought about by us.

ILLUSTRATION
Once there lived a certain woman who had a stubborn and troublesome child. On many occasions when the child went out and caused one form of trouble or the other, even if he stole, the mother would use her money to close up the case. The boy continued in his violent behavior causing one trouble after the other until one day the boy finally killed somebody and was charge to court. There, he was sentenced for murder to be hanged.
When the sentence was read, in spite of the effort of his mother to use money to save him as usual, he was sentenced to death. Then when he realized that his mother could not save him any longer, he indicated his intention to confide in his mother before being led away for execution. This request was granted and his mother walked close to him. The boy pretended as if he wanted to have a word with his mother and in that process held the mother’s head close to his mouth and bit off one of her ears. Before the security agents in the court could rush in, he had already accomplished his will. When asked why he did that, the boy said that, he was giving his mother a share of the misdemeanors for letting him loose during his infancy, the mother was for that reason sentenced for culpable negligence.
It is said that, you should not seek to be teachers for their judgement is so great. For example, if a vehicle with full passengers is driven out by an ill-trained driver and eventually, gets involved in a ghastly accident, who will be held responsible for the loss of souls? The first thing a man has to do therefore is to know his creator and serve Him. What he does instead is to request for a wife, money, children and other things that are transitory. These things form the basis of your downfall and destruction. By so doing, you have invited more problems to yourself than you can bear. That is why we are told to submit to those who lead us and obey them. Your teacher is the one who will give account before God. And for that reason you should not give him cause to do the work with grief. There are problems in the world today because of the absence of good stewardship. The preachers behave differently from what they preach. They tell you to do what they say and not what they do. This explains why Christ told the multitude that:

“Saying, The Scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat. All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do, but do not ye after their work: for they say, and do not. (St. Matthew 23: 2-3)

He therefore, referred to them (Pharisees and Scribes) as the blind leaders of the blind. See below:
“Let them alone; they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch”. (St. Matthew 15: 14). Christ prayed saying:
“And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world. And I come to thee Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou has given me, that they may be one, as we are, while I was with them in the world. I kept them in thy name, those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition. That the scripture might be fulfilled”. (St. John 17: 11-12)
Today, people are clamoring to amass wealth, to occupy important political and economic positions. But no one is interested to serve God. The proliferation of churches is an indication of man’s rebellious tendencies and quest for materialism. Charity, it is said, begins at home. No person who is himself unorganized can get others organized. In the whole wide world, who has endeavored to resemble our Lord Jesus Christ? He never went to the hospital for treatment or consults any native doctor throughout His life. He did not indulge in any act of sinfulness.

This explains why He was so powerful. When a multitude of people went to capture Him, He only spoke the word by saying ‘I am He’, and they all fell to the ground. Does that not explain to you that God is power? If He were not so powerful, what would have caused Pharaoh to allow the children of Israel to go? What would have caused Nebuchadnezzer to live in the forest for seven (7) years? Herod blasphemed against God greatly and if He were not powerful, Herod would have gone away with that insult. He would not have been God any longer. To say the least, if He had not proved himself to be Supreme and Almighty, none would have worshipped Him. If He was not God and most powerful, all men would have drawn battle lines with Him and would have conquered Him by now.
If Christ were to crash-land with fanfare as the world expects, where would He land and would His enemies fold their hands and watch Him safely land? Did Christ Himself not tell the story of a certain man who gave out his field to husbandmen to watch for him? He made it clear in the story that when the man saw the heirs of the farm; they descended on him and killed him so that they would take over the ownership of the farm. Then a question was asked: What would happen to such husbandmen when the owner comes? The answer was given that; the owner of the farm would destroy such husbandmen. This explains why Christ said:
“I am the vine, ye are the branches. He that abideth in me and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing”. (St. John 15: 5)
Even when He healed that blind young man, the people discountenanced the feat believing that He did it through the power of evil, and most importantly was that He did it on a Sabbath. However, in His reply He said:

“..My Father worketh hitherto, and I work”. (St. John 5: 17)
For those who believe that God works only for six (6) days and takes His rest on the seventh (7) day, have they imagined what would happen everywhere if God should rest for even a second?

What all should note is that, no matter the space of time, God would not fail to destroy the evil ones from the surface of the earth. The inhabitants of the world are not ready to listen to and practice the word of God. The same happens in government and other establishments. People only go there to work for the purpose of making money, to destroy them and not to build. The protocols observed in both governmental and business circles are part and parcel of the security system, particularly in matters relating to having audience with either the Head of Sate of Head or Departments. You must pass through certain formalities before being allowed to meet the President of a country or even other high-ranking government officials. This is for the sake of protecting them.
If man could be so mindful of his fellow man, how much more God? If God were to expose Himself to man without His overwhelming spiritual power, man would have engaged Him in physical combat to destroy Him. For instance, Jacob who had a slight opportunity to meet face to face with the angel of God had to wrestle with Him. He decided to go to any length with the angel until he got blessed. If more persons got a similar opportunity as Jacob did, what do you think would have happened to that Being in the form of an angel?

The problems in the world today are traceable to man’s extravagant habits. When you spend more than your income, you are bound to go bankrupt. A man with no visible source of livelihood would not mind marrying two to ten wives which invariably leads to giving birth to as many children as he and his wives can breed. Tell Me if such a person can ever have happiness and peace of mind? The whole nations of the world, organizations and individuals are bankrupt because they live beyond their means. The salvation lies only in a change of heart. Read the first lesson once more:

FIRST LESSON: ST. MATTHEW 23: 11
“But he that is greatest among you shall be your servants”.
The above passage is the entry visa into this Kingdom. There is no need for you to struggle for food, money, wife, children or anything that is mundane for, there is no profit in those things. The only thing you have to struggle for is this Kingdom. If you desire to be great, you have to serve others. Do not seek to punish or cheat others but endeavor at all times to serve them and better their lot.
No person is capable of doing anything except he practices the word of God and is filled with the Holy Spirit. Many governors, presidents, and very rich men get sick and even die while their exalted positions and their wealth; cannot rescue them. But the one that practices the gospel and abides in the Lord, no matter how lowly placed, is powerful and resolute. Such is the same person who is capable of praying for any sick person to be healed. Of these two classes of persons, who is greater? Many church leaders and leaders in other religious organizations are provided with security agents to protect them.
The only way of salvation is through words of our Lord Jesus Christ. All the inhabitants of the world have alienated themselves from God, and have instead chosen carnal things as their savior. All powers in heaven and on earth belong to Christ. Neither man nor any other thing created by God has power. Instead of all the inhabitants of the world to believe in God and abhor unrighteousness, they resort to idolatry, fornication and disobedience to their Creator. There is no power anywhere except God. Man appears to be helpless and to be overcome by problems that beset him because he has refused to accept God and to serve Him.
There is great reward in heaven for all His obedient children. When a certain sick man was taken to the Disciples of Christ, they prayed for him but could not be healed. When the report got to the Lord He asked that the sick person be brought to Him. The person was brought to Him and He got him healed. The disciples, out of surprise, wanted to know from their Master why they could not heal the sick person. His reply to them was that:

“…Because of your unbelief; for verily I say unto you, if ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, remove hence to yonder place, and it shall move; and nothing shall be impossible unto you”. (St. Matthew 17: 20)
Faith is not acquired by words of mouth or show of power but by practicing the gospel. This explains the reason behind the weakness of the various church denominations today. Our Lord Jesus Christ burnt no candles or incenses; He did not beat drums, nor go to the mountaintop with the sick to pray for them. He spoke only the word accompanied with a dramatic effect.

The entire world is empty; it is only the Holy Spirit that reigns supreme. If you desire to be endowed with the power of God, you have to practice the gospel. The word of God is peace, love, prosperity and all the good things. If we accept to serve God, He will not fail to give us our due rewards. He would always answer to your prayers promptly whenever He is called upon. It is said:
“Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son”. Let reference be made to the second lesson:

SECOND LESSON: ST. MATTHEW 20: 28
“Even as the son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many”.
There is no particular person who has not benefited from Christ, in one way or the other in his life. Christ does not impute sin on any. It is one thing to claim to be a man of God or a wealthy man; but another thing is to fulfill the responsibilities of that position. Christ did not bestow people with mundane things, He did not pray to people to be rich, but offered Himself to serve all. If He had not surrendered His life as a ransom, where would man derive his salvation? He was called all sorts of derogatory names, despised at and persecuted yet, He continued to love all. He came to serve but not to judge. Therefore, if we comply with His injunctions we shall be completely free from problems.
The political entity (the Soviet Union) once regarded as the most powerful nation in the world was brought to its disintegration because of its abhorrence to the teachings of Christ. The government indoctrinated its people to believe that the idea about the existence of God was a mere illusion, apparition and an act of idleness meant for desperate people. But the question is where is it now in the map of the world today?
Other countries continue to claim to be world powers yet they are hit hard by various natural disasters. Why is it that, their power, wisdom and wealth cannot save them? In spite of their many scientific inventions and discoveries recorded yet, they continue to be visited with vicissitudes. The so-called advanced nations waste their resources in exploring other planets; certain individuals who claim to be spiritually developed embark on excessive astral projection, yet they end up on earth? Even those of us here in Brotherhood of the Cross and Star, if we were to realize that God is in our midst, we would not indulge in the evil that we do.
Brotherhood of the Cross and Star has no problem because it adheres to the teachings of Christ to the letter. We abide by the injunctions of our Lord Jesus Christ and imbibe His lifestyle. This is golden opportunity for all to practice the injunctions of our Lord Jesus Christ. If the children of Israel had hearkened to the injunctions of the Lord the destruction they witnessed would have been averted. Christ came to the world, preached, and practiced the gospel for the world to be in peace. But immediately His ascension into heaven, men went for His disciples to torture them. He bore eloquent witness about the Holy Spirit when He said:

“But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you”. (St. John 14: 26)

He made this promise realizing that no man was ready to serve God. By being nailed to the cross, it was the flesh and its lusts that were nailed. The Holy Spirit has come to rule and reign eternally. There is no place for materialism in His Kingdom. He has come as the light otherwise the world would be damned. But for the power of the Holy Spirit, the world would have by now witnessed the third (3rd) world war. This is not the time for anybody to condemn the other or build cathedrals but to practice the gospel. When the people saw our Lord Jesus Christ, they exclaimed:

“…Rabbi, when camest thou hither? (St. John 6: 25) In His reaction, Christ said:
“….Verily, Verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled. Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you; for him hath God the Father sealed”. (St. John 6: 26-27)
Which is the food that shall endure forever? It is the word of God, which incidentally man has rejected. All the conventional institutions of learning and other societies cannot give man the much-needed salvation. Brotherhood of the Cross and Star is able to conquer the world; it does not desire recognition from anybody, it does not need power or anything that is mundane. It has come to save the world. This is the fulfillment of that promise that:

“Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth, for he shall not speak of himself; but what- soever he shall hear, that shall he speak; and he will show you things to come”. (St. John 16: 13)
The people of old disobeyed God and got perished. If you continue in that disobedience you shall also perish. Our Lord Jesus Christ did not come to seek for a wife or child, neither was He interested in anything mundane. The case with us is different; we go to God with diverse problems and requests for Him to solve them.
When the Israelites demanded to know from Christ what He came to do for them, that Moses used to pray and manna would fall from heaven for them to eat, He replied them that it was not Moses who provided the bread but His Father. He went further to remind them:
“…Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven, but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven for the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world”. (St. John 6: 32-33).
For those who claim to seek after the Lord Jesus, in what way do they seek after Him? The only way to seek after the Lord is to practice His injunctions. Whoever seeks to see the Father should practice the gospel. Whoever shall practice this gospel will do greater works than Christ did. Reference should now be made to our golden text:

GOLDEN TEXT: ST. JOHN 14: 12
“Verily, verily I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these will he do; because I go unto my Father”.
Tell the whole world, the various religious sects and all secret societies that they should practice this gospel. That, the solution to their sorrow lies in practicing this gospel. Do not worry yourself over anything but endeavor to practice the gospel. God does not lax in His promise and He honors every statement that proceeds from His mouth. Do not pray God to heal you or to provide you anything mundane. Just put this gospel into practice and see whether you will not have the power and glory of God fulfilled in you. This gospel is given to you to enhance your prosperity and as a solution to all your problems. The scripture says:
“For the kingdom of God is not in words, but in power”. (1st Corinthians 4: 20).
The so-called wise saying that, man surpasses man, but position surpasses power For example, God has the power and the world has positions. Except all the people in the corridors of governmental power and those occupying other sensitive seats come to the Father and obtain real power, they will not succeed. It is written:
“Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain”. (Psalms 127: 1)
Whatever you wish to do, you have to obtain clearance from the Father. Whoever fulfills this gospel and with the promise of Christ fulfilled in Him can never again grope in darkness in search of salvation. The children of Brotherhood have Christ, the Father and the heavenly hosts because the gospel is practiced diligently. The feast you eat, the Holy Oil and Biakpan Water can never lead you to salvation. It is merely profitable to receive the gospel and practice it than to look for ephemeral things. If you allow the word of God to abide in your head you will surely have eternal life and all the good things you need. There is no elementary spirit in the whole world that can challenge a child of Brotherhood.
Should the people of the world ask you about what the Father has given to you as a source of spiritual power tell them that it is the word of God. That we should love one another by giving water to those who are thirsty and food for the hungry. Solace for those in grief and clothes for the naked. Any person who fails to practice this gospel has no share in Kingdom of God. The stone the builders rejected has finally become the chief cornerstone. This is the word of God. That is exactly what has happened in the world today. Brotherhood has come to rule the world. That is the more reason we have to refrain from sins. Christ came to save men and for any man to enjoy this grace, he has to practice the injunctions of our Lord Jesus Christ.
